Studio

One painting often leads to another.

My work develops through series. I return to landscape, memory, colour and gesture — not to repeat what I have seen, but to discover what else it can become.

Some paintings begin with a place or experience, others with a mark, a colour or the behaviour of a material. As the work develops, recognition can give way to something more open and abstract.

Current exploration

Azure & Stone

Born from impressions of Mediterranean rock, water and light, the series gradually moves away from observed landscape towards a more fragmented and abstract language.

Other ongoing series

In the studio, these different strands continue to meet.

Paintings are worked on side by side, allowed to change direction and sometimes to remain unresolved for a while. One work can open a possibility that only becomes visible in the next.

This continuing movement between experience, material and abstraction is what connects the series.
