About the Artist
About Me
I am Daniela Knobel, a contemporary abstract artist based in the Netherlands. My paintings explore the space between landscape, inner perception, and memory, unfolding through a slow and attentive process. Rather than starting from a predetermined image, the work develops in dialogue with material, color, and time.
Painting is an investigative practice for me, grounded in attention, slowness, and observation. The works invite prolonged looking and leave room for personal interpretation, allowing meaning to emerge gradually.
Artistic Vision
My work moves along the boundary between abstraction and recognition. References to landscape remain implicit rather than literal, appearing as rhythm, trace, or remembered atmosphere rather than as depiction.
I am interested in how images unfold over time and how meaning is not fixed, but formed in the encounter between the work and the viewer. Stillness, subtle tension, and layering play a central role, creating space for reflection rather than narrative.
Process and Material
My paintings are built up in layers, with each intervention responding to what is already present. Earlier layers remain partially visible and continue to influence the final composition, allowing time to be felt within the surface.
I work with acrylic paint and mixed media on canvas or paper. The process is intuitive and open, allowing space for chance, revision, and repetition. A painting evolves step by step, without a predetermined endpoint.
