Memories of Colliding Currents (2026)
Acrylic, acrylic ink and charcoal on canvas, 30 × 30 × 3.5 cm
Memories of moving water, shifting colours and colliding currents come together in this expressive abstract painting. Warm rust-orange tones meet cool blues, creating a lively interplay of contrast, movement and harmony.
Broad, spontaneous brushstrokes overlap with delicate charcoal marks and traces of earlier layers. The textured surface reveals the painting's development, allowing different gestures and colours to interact.
I approached this painting intuitively, experimenting with contrasting colours, overlapping marks and spontaneous movements. As I worked, I recalled the way different currents meet, push against each other and find their own rhythm.
Part of the Azure & Stone series, the work reflects how memories of water and movement can return through colour, texture and gesture.
